Accreditation of professional education programs is a process of quality assurance through which accredited status is granted to a program of study once it has met certain standards of education established by the responsible authorities.

In 2023, the MSc (OT) Program was granted an accreditation award for a period of seven years (until 2030) by the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT).

Every publicly assisted Ontario university that grants degrees and diplomas is responsible for ensuring the quality of all of its programs of study, including modes of delivering programs and those academic and student services that affect the quality of the respective programs under review, whether or not the program is eligible for government funding.

The process by which institutions meet this accountability to the government is outlined in the Quality Assurance Framework (QAF), developed by the Ontario Council of Academic Vice- Presidents (OCAV) and approved by Executive Heads in April 2010. Institutions’ compliance with the QAF is monitored by the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance, also known as the Quality Council, which reports to OCAV and the Council of Ontario Universities (COU).

In 2023, the MSc (OT) Program passed the IQAP. The Program will be reviewed again within eight years (2031).
