Institute for Applied Health Sciences
The Institute for Applied Health Sciences is a four-storey facility that is a unique partnership between of two health care educators, McMaster University and Mohawk College.
Located within the main McMaster Campus at 1280 Main Street West, it is home to full-time and part-time students from both Mohawk College and McMaster University.
The Institute houses McMaster University’s School of Rehabilitation Science, which offers master’s degree programs in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Science, and Speech Language Pathology and conducts research to advance knowledge in the rehabilitation field.
The building hosts multiple classrooms and tutorial rooms, an amphitheatre, and state-of-the-art laboratories.
Program Office
The McMaster University Occupational Therapy Program office is located in room 402 in the Institute for Applied Health Sciences (IAHS) building on the main campus at 1280 Main Street West in Hamilton, Ontario. Office hours are Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Classrooms
The Occupational Therapy Program has a dedicated classroom in the Institute for Applied Health Sciences (IAHS) building, room 367. As many classes as possible will be held in this classroom
Also within the IAHS building is a lab space, room 405. This space is outfitted with numerous plinths and equipment to practice hands-on skills such as transferring.
Finally, there are a various smaller classrooms within the IAHS building which are used for small groups such as problem-based tutorials.
Some classes may be held in other classrooms and labs across the University.
Anatomy Lab
In year one of the OT Program, students take part in three Foundational Knowledge courses, including sessions on human anatomy. Students have classes in the anatomy lab in the Hamilton Health Sciences Building on the main campus. More information can be found on the anatomy lab website.
Centre for Simulation Based Learning
The Occupational Therapy Program utilizes this unique and interactive space to practice skills and facilitate hands-on skills evaluations. To learn more about this space visit the Centre for Simulation Based Learning website.
